Big Sur trip, May 2014

Day 152: “An Awesome Wave” by Alt-J

My trip to Big Sur started early-really early. My friend Jessika and I left the comfort of our small town at 3am on the last day of May. We packed a cooler full of random camp food…hot dogs and veggies…hit the road, in hopes of getting to Big Sur early enough to go on a hike.

Music was essential, so naturally I had already prepared a playlist for our long drive up the western coast. I no longer have that playlist, but I assume there was at least one song from this album.

The drive up the coast to Big Sur is mesmerizing. I was so excited for the trip that I barely slept before the drive. It didn’t matter. There was so much to see.

Windy roads and beaches for miles…and TREES! So many trees 🙂

What I’d give to go back again…

Track 3-“Tessellate”

Bite chunks out of me
You’re a shark and I’m swimming
My heart still thumps as I bleed
And all your friends come sniffing

Triangles are my favorite shape
Three points where two lines meet
Toe to toe, back to back, let’s go, my love; it’s very late
‘Til morning comes, let’s tessellate

Go alone my flower
And keep my whole lovely you
Wild green stones alone my lover
And keep us on my heart

Three guns and one goes off
One’s empty, one’s not quick enough
One burn, one red, one grin
Search the graves while the camera spins

Chunks of you will sink down to seals
Blubber rich in mourning, they’ll nosh you up
Yes, they’ll nosh the love away but it’s fair to say
You will still haunt me

Triangles are my favorite shape
Three points where two lines meet
Toe to toe, back to back, let’s go my love; it’s very late
‘Til morning comes, let’s tessellate

I’ll be back soon, Big Sur 🙂 Don’t you worry.
