Lancaster County Sunrise

Put some beautiful melodic harmonies and instrumentals to Robert Frost poetry…and you have Fleet Foxes.

When I was little (and still do today), I loved nature. I not only loved nature, but I adored writing about it. One of my favorite assignments in middle school was when we did creative writing. Every one of my stories had to do with nature, and immersing myself into this fantastical world where the plants and animals played the largest role. Perhaps it was my obsession with the “Enchanted Forest Chronicles” written by Patricia C. Wrede. Or, it was my love for Robert Frost’s poetry.

Track 2- “White Winter Hymnal”

Track 3- “Ragged Wood”

Come down from the mountain, you have been gone too long
The spring is upon us, follow my ornate song
Settle down with me by the fire of my yearning
You should come back home, back on your own now

The world is alive now, in and outside our home
You run through the forest settled before the sun
Darling, I can barely remember you beside me
You should come back home, back on your own now
You should come back home, back on your own now

Track 8- “Meadowlarks”

Meadowlark, fly your way down
I hold a cornucopia and a golden crown
For you to wear upon your fleecy down
My meadowlark, sing to me

Hummingbird, just let me dive
Inside the broken ovals of your olive eyes
I do believe you gave it your best try
My hummingbird, sing to me

A little bit about this fabulous band:

They formed in a suburb of Seattle, Washington. One of their main influences was Bob Dylan (++brownie points++). They’ve been on hiatus for over 5 years, and just this past month announced they will be getting back together! The two full length albums (Fleet Foxes & Helplessness Blues) they have put out have been outstanding. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

Entertainment Weekly said, “Hushed and wistful, Foxes evokes the itinerant days of yore…you know, before gas cost four bucks a gallon.” Ha!

Tomorrow: “The Second Stage Turbine Blade” by Coheed & Cambria The young stale memories of, play the role to your part.Librarian find me the pole the one that kicks your head in…
